House System

All students are allocated to a House as soon as they join Bede Academy and they stay in the same House throughout. It is an important thread in the all-throughness of the Academy and links the youngest students with the oldest students in a sense of common purpose.

The House System encourages a feeling of identity and loyalty amongst the students of Bede Academy and provides opportunities for the development of their leadership potential.

There are three Houses, each one with its own colour: Aidan (red), Cuthbert (blue) and Oswald (yellow).

Each House is led by a Vice Principal and supported by a House Manager and two student House Leaders from each year group.

Throughout the year, students of all ages have the opportunity to represent their House in a range of competitions as can be seen in the table below. House assemblies take place once a term.

In each competition, nine points are award to the winning House, six to the second and three to the third. The winning House is also awarded with a trophy which is displayed with the House Colours in the trophy cabinet.

Points are accumulated over the year and the winning House is presented with the House Cup at the annual Presentation Day.
